This hotel is beautifully seated in the little town of Shipka at the southern base of the central Balkan Mountains. This surroundings teem with national memories, and are beautiful. You are at the threshold of the legendary valley of the Roses whose centuries of rose-oil industry provide a source of wealth and age-long memories and customs to the population. The region is very quiet, and lay far from the rushing walls of the great cities of Sofia and Plovdiv.
The most eyecatching work in the neighbourhood is undoubtedly the magnificent Shipka Memorial Church with its shining golden domes and sumptuous russo-byzantine architecture, a short walk or drive from the hotel and put to maximum effect by the deep boom from its big bells across the valley.
Beyond the church the town itself is small quiet and incredibly safe for visitors. A few roads lined with mean rural houses small gardens and shops where you can purchase real rose oil candles and curtains. AMong the streets we mentioned there is a quaint little village feeling, it’s like stepping back in time with people saying hello to one another and a pace of life marked by the sun. For the right type of tourist it is slow tourism at its finest.
For those into hiking this neighbourhood will serve as a perfect base station to go hiking into the national park. The tough mountains of the Balkan open themselves to the more daring amongst us to tackle. Walk up to the heights and the Shipka Pass monument to have great views over the plain. Exhausted from another day of discovering the womb of the planet return to the peace of your room in our hotel.
